For those who are unable to make a meeting, I will be posting all our meeting minutes here.
Meeting July 1, 2008:
1. Scouts met at Fox Hollow Pool and started working on their Aquanaut.
2. Meeting ran from 6:30 - 8:30 - kids had some free time to play and just have fun.
3. Boys are deciding on Den Name, this is what we have so far to vote on:
a. Black Knights.
b. Brave Knights.
c. Knights.
d. Blue Knights.
e. Scorpion Knights.
If you scout has not made the past few meetings, shoot me an email with their Den name suggestion.
Meeting June 17, 2008:
1. Den Dues - we are starting the den dues program. Why you ask? This will help stave off the cost somewhat of when we go to places like Bovay that cost $90.00 per person. It is also a way for the boys to earn a little money and realize that it is difficult to earn and too easy to spend. Whatever the scout can bring in each meeting would be fine. There will be a ledger with your scouts name and receipts for your payment.
2. Meetings: We will now be meeting once a week instead of twice a month. I would like to try holding meetings at parks, campouts, and Den trips, as well as the Scout Huts. Having meetings once per week will enable the boys to get used to the schedules as they are in Boy Scout Troops. Meetings are from 4:00 - 5:00 pm.
3. Den Name - Yes the scouts will be naming themselves. So by our next meeting if you were unable to attend our bowling night, to have a name to suggest. This is for the boys and they need to be the judges on what they would like to be called.
4. Uniforms, we discussed the uniforms are what the scouts want to wear. Either Blue or khaki. If they still have blues that fit, great still continue to use those. If your uniform is looking a little small and worse for the wear than I suggest getting the khakis and something they can grow into! So the uniform then would be Khaki Shirt and Green Shorts/Pants if you would like to change.
5. Webelos Book - this is something your scout will need to have. He will be using this constantly at home, in our meetings, and campouts! Half Price Books is a good source for used books. Just make sure it is the current edition.
6. Neckerchief. I have the neckerchiefs and we will give those out soon. I want it to be special and not just hand it to the scout and say here you go.
7. I have asked the scouts to work on Traveler at home and we will begin Aquanaut in July. Take a look at the links for Rank and there are worksheets to help with the program.
